One week yachting itinerary in Montenegro

The one-week format was chosen for a reason: in 7 days the itinerary allows you to pass the key parts of the Montenegrin coastline without rushing and overloaded passages. This is the optimal duration to see different regions of the country, change several locations and still retain the feeling of a vacation, not a marathon.

The route is organized in a circular logic: the start and finish are in Tivat, and the movement passes through Boka Kotor Bay, the central coast and the southern parts of the country. This route gives the opportunity to consistently change landscapes and atmosphere - from calm bays and old towns to open stretches of the Adriatic and more southerly coastal towns.

Unlike short boat trips, a week-long itinerary reveals Montenegro as a whole maritime destination. It is the journey itself, not the place itself, that is important here: passing between towns, overnight stays by the shore, early mornings at sea and a gradual sense of the journey.

Travel program by day

Tivat → Kotor / Stradioti Island

The first day is dedicated to the start of the itinerary and getting acquainted with Boka Kotor Bay. After settling on the yacht and organizational formalities, the route heads towards Kotor, one of the most picturesque old towns of Montenegro. The approach from the sea allows you to see the city walls and the mountain amphitheater of the bay in full panorama.

Upon arrival, the yacht anchors and guests have time for a stroll through the old town of Kotor: narrow streets, squares, fortress walls and waterfront. This relaxed start to the trip sets the rhythm for the whole week and allows for a smooth entry into the format of the maritime itinerary.

Depending on conditions and the overall pace of the group, the overnight stay takes place either in the waters of Kotor or off Stradioti Island, a more secluded spot for the first night on the water. The day ends with dinner on board or ashore and rest after the first sea crossing.

Perast → Mamula Island → Herceg Novi

The second day of the itinerary runs along the northwestern part of Boka Kotor Bay. In the morning the yacht sails towards Perast, a small baroque town with a waterfront and islands opposite. This is one of the most photogenic points of the bay, where the calm rhythm of coastal Montenegro is particularly well felt.

The route continues to the entrance of the bay, with a stop at Mamula Island. From the sea you can clearly see the fortress, located on a rocky island, one of the most recognizable historical structures of the region. Along the way, lunch is possible at an oyster farm, where oysters and mussels are farmed directly in the waters of the bay.

In the afternoon, the yacht arrives at Herceg Novi. In the evening you can stroll along the waterfront and the old town, famous for its staircases, fortresses and panoramic views. Overnight stays in the marina or in one of the nearby bays, making this a varied and rich day of experiences.

Budva → Petrovac → Sveti Stefan

The third day of the itinerary takes the yacht out of the bay to the more open Adriatic coast. The passage towards Budva opens up new landscapes - long stretches of coastline, beaches and resort areas that are markedly different from the chamber-like atmosphere of Boka Kotor Bay.

Upon arrival in the Budva area, it is possible to anchor in the marina or anchor off the island of St. Nikola. Guests can stroll through the old town of Budva with its fortress walls, squares and promenade and experience the more dynamic rhythm of the coast. Stops for open water swimming are possible along the way.

In the afternoon the route continues towards Petrovac and Sveti Stefan. The sea offers recognizable panoramas of the island of Sveti Stefan, one of the hallmarks of Montenegro. The evening and overnight stay are spent in a quiet environment by the shore, creating a balance between an active day and a relaxing vacation.

Ulcinj

The fourth day is dedicated to Ulcinj, a city with a distinctly oriental character and a different atmosphere compared to the central coast. As you move south, the landscape and architecture changes, and Ulcinj itself is noticeably different in style and rhythm of life from other coastal towns in Montenegro.

The yacht anchors in the bay of Ulcinj, from where it is easy to reach the old town. Here you can walk around the fortress walls, visit the museum and the old square, which once housed the largest slave market in the Adriatic. This day adds historical depth to the itinerary and allows you to see a different side of the country.

The evening is spent in a relaxed atmosphere by the shore. Ulcinj is rarely included in short itineraries, so it is in the week-long format that it is revealed to the fullest and fits seamlessly into the overall trip.

Bar Riviera → Sutomore → Royal Beach

The fifth day of the itinerary runs along the Bar Riviera and is dedicated to a more relaxed rhythm of travel. After busy city days, the route turns towards secluded stretches of coastline where the focus is on the sea, swimming and relaxation.

On the way, the yacht stops at Sutomore, a resort town with a long beach and convenient water area for day anchorage. Here it is possible to have lunch in a coastal restaurant and a short walk along the shore before continuing the journey.

For an overnight stay, the route leads to a picturesque bay with Royal Beach, one of the cleanest and most secluded stretches of coastline, accessible only from the sea. The evening is spent in silence, away from the noise of the city, which creates a feeling of complete immersion in a sea voyage.

Lustica Bay → Bigovo → Tivat

The sixth day of the route runs along the Lustica peninsula and gradually brings the journey back to Boka Kotor Bay. The morning crossing is accompanied by stops for swimming and relaxing in the clear water, and the landscapes once again become more chamber-like and verdant.

Along the way, the yacht calls at Bigovo, a small fishing village known for its seafood restaurants. This is a convenient point for lunch ashore and a short walk before the final crossing.

By evening the yacht returns to Tivat and stays in the home marina for the last overnight stay. This day completes the itinerary at a relaxed pace and gives an opportunity to summarize the trip before departure.

Departure

The seventh day is dedicated to the end of the voyage. Disembarkation from the yacht takes place in the morning hours in Tivat. This is the time for a quiet farewell to the sea, packing and final photos.

The week-long itinerary ends where it began, leaving a seamless sense of the journey. In seven days of travel, guests have time to see different regions of the coast, change several atmospheres and experience the format of the sea route without rushing.

We organize yacht cruises with captain in Montenegro in a calm and safe format. All conditions are agreed in advance, the route is selected individually, and the walk takes place without rush and unauthorized guests.

Overnight stays and life on the boat

Overnight stays on the week-long itinerary alternate between marinas and anchorages. This approach allows you to combine the comfort of the onshore infrastructure with more secluded nights in the bays. Depending on the day of the itinerary, overnight stays may be close to town or in calm waters away from the hustle and bustle of the coast.

Life on a yacht is built around a simple and straightforward rhythm: morning sailing, afternoon passages and stops, evening anchorages and relaxation. Everything you need for a week's accommodation is on board, and the format of the voyage allows you to take your time and adapt your day to your mood and surroundings.

Who is this route suitable for?
